Maori and European Population Changes in NZ 1838 - 1901

What does the Graph show us?
That as time passed, the number of Europeans increased, while the number of Maori decreased.

Why do you think the numbers of Maori changed?
Because they kept on killing each other with muskets to gain more land.

Why do you think the numbers of Europeans changed?
Because they got attracted to the women and fighting going on. Also since Maori kept killing each other.

Her Diary - Creative Writing

Still Working On It

Her Diary

|| Prologue ||
Page #50 - What Should I Do?

“I’m taking her with me!” I heard my dad say.
“No, you can’t!” I heard my mum say.

I went to the kitchen to see them arguing with each other. My mum was standing beside the kitchen table while my dad was standing beside the sink. I don’t think they notice me, I thought to myself.

“I can’t deal with this anymore!” My mum says as she looks my way.
“L-Luna, go to your room.” My dad coldly told me.
I run to my room and shut the door behind me. What should I do? I don’t want my parents to separate, I told myself. I opened my closet to find a huge black bag that was as black as charcoal. I pick it up and started to pack my clothes and shoes inside it. If I run away then my parents wouldn’t have to separate.

|| Chapter 1 ||

I walked inside the store to buy food.
“Oh Elijah, how are you?” The cashier Jerome questioned me as he looked at the cash register.
“I’m okay, I’m just here to buy some food.” I replied. I walk to aisle 5 where all of the biscuits and chips were located. I grabbed my two favourite chips and walked to Jerome to pay for food. When I finished, I walked to my favourite place where I relax. I lazily walk to the bench while looking at my phone. As I reached the bench, I put my phone deep down in my pocket and rummaged through the bag I was holding to look for my food. As I sat down I felt like I was sitting on something so I got up and looked to where I was sitting. ‘A book?’

 Page #1 - I don’t know

Well, this is my first time writing on a book so I don’t really know what to write. Well I just wanted to say that look forward to more writing from me.

Today was such a boring day, we did nothing exciting at school. I hope we continue to do more fun things at school.

So, this is a diary. I thought to myself. I stuff the diary inside my bag and wondered if I should try to look for the person who possesses the book. But how could I find her if her last name is not written? I asked myself over and over again.

Mount Sinabung

Mount Sinabung

Location: North Sumatra, Indonesia

Eruption:

The most recent eruption of Mount Sinabung was on June 9th 2019 but on May 2016 the most recent deadliest eruption of this mountain happened.

2019

The Indonesian volcano called "Mount Sinabung" erupted, which caused a massive column of ash and smoke of 2,000 metres into the air, which covered the local villages in debris. But there were no reported deaths or injuries from this eruption.

I think this eruption was a "Vulcanian" eruption and is a stratovolcano.

Explanation:

Volcanoes erupt when magma rises to the surface. If the magma is thick then the gas bubbles cannot escape easily which cause the pressure to build up as the magma rises. When the pressure is too much then the eruption happens.

Wind Racers

Research: Before making our wind racers we took time to research about different designs first. Our research was about different sail designs that we could use in order to make our racers faster.

Design: Our design was a triangular sail. This is because of us thinking that since the triangle has equal sides then this must help.

Build:

Materials:
-Cardboard
-Tape

In order to build our sail:

1. Cut out 2 pieces of cardboard into a triangle.

2. Stick the 2 pieces of cardboard onto the pole.

3. Make sure it's stable.

Test:

Our wind racer didn't do so well when it came to the distance because it only went 12cm, but the time it stopped moving was 6 seconds.

Redesign/Changes:

We didn't change the shape of our sail because we thought that the reason our sail didn't work was that we placed the sail the wrong way. So we kept the same shape of the sail but added a rectangular piece of cardboard in the middle of the sail for more stabilisation.

Test:

Our second test went much better as the distance our wind racer covered was 50cm.

Evaluate: We think that our wind racer didn't work as well as the other wind racers because as we turned on the leaf blower, all of the weight of the cardboard sail accelerated downwards so our "car" went straight down.

Overall we think that the activity was fun even though our racer didn't win.

Gymnastics - P.E

What sequence or routine is your video sharing?

My video is sharing a series on the trampoline.

Why did you choose this sequence?

I chose to do this sequence because, for me, it's easy to do.

Do you think you have improved in this sequence?

Yes, I think I have improved because I can properly do a seat drop now.

How did you improve?

They said that before I wasn't able to stand up after doing my seat drop, but now I can.
