Nanotechnology Engineer

Description:

A nanotechnology engineer works around the smallest, most amazing bits of science. They create new, tiny pieces of electronics. They make $95,900 every year and their salaries start from $52,010 and goes up to $150,830.

Most companies require a PhD in Biophysics, Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or another field in order to become a nanotechnology engineer. Teamwork is needed for this job, you are responsible for directing and guiding other engineers in most workplace environments. Companies that are looking for nanotechnology engineers expect a candidate to be able to work with partners all over the world and to be able to think with a business-oriented mind. They also look for candidates that have great leadership skills, with strong problem solving skills even on a different level. Public speaking skills are also required, because engineers in nanotechnology will have to make announcements about plans to insiders and outsiders, as well as write reports and essays.

Nanotechnology engineers learn new things that changes health, science, technology and the environment. They test pollutants, creates powders to enrich our food and medicines, they also study the smallest bits of DNA.

Nanotechnology engineers take advanced supplies and materials and they turn them into something new. They also create new and improved ways of watching out and improving the environment.

Nanotechnology engineers that work with nanoelectronics will create smaller, efficient chips, cards, and even smaller computer parts to make products that can do as much bigger products without so much electronic waste.

Behind the scenes, nanotechnology engineers must be good with paperwork and detailed description writing.

Richard Feynman 

Richard Feynman was born on May 11 1918, and later died on February 15 1988. Richard held an appointment at the University of Winsconsin-Madison as an assistant professor of physics, but he was unpaid leave during his involvement in the Manhattan project. In 1945 he received a letter requesting him for his return to teaching at College of Letters and Science, he did not return.

Richard Feynman had a record label with Tuvamuch Music. Due to lack of evidence Richard Feynman hasn't worked for any company.

Ricahrd Feynman discovered nanotechnology. On his time on earth, Richard Feynman had won many awards, was in 3 movies, and had 15 books.

• He was awarded the Albert Einstein Award and the Lawrence Award.
• He was an educator and popularised through his books and lectures.

Why did you choose to study this job?

I chose to research nanotechnology engineering because it fascinated me, it got me interested.  

Would you like to do this job?

I would like to do this job because it's interesting. I like everything about technology so having a job that is related to technology would be cool. I would love to learn more about technology, and how to improve them. 

What skills do you have that you think would make you good (or bad) at this job?

The skill I have to make me good for this job is that I am good in writing, I like being as descriptive as I can be.

Something that might not make me good for this job is that I'm too shy to have good leadership skills and I'm not very good with problem solving. 

How good do you think you would be at the job?

I think I would be in the middle, not over the top good but also not at the rock bottom bad.

Asking people in class:

The first person I asked didn't know anything about the job. For her, the job would be fun because it would be interesting to work with technology. She would not want to have this job because she thinks that it's too complicated to work with technology.

The second person I asked didn't know anything either. She doesn't think that it would be fun because she has no interest in this job. She wouldn't want to do this job because she's not a social active person.

Dear Mrs Elley,

I am writing to persuade you about why I think leather shoes are better to wear than sport shoes during school hours. I disagree to wearing sport shoes during school hours, and this is the reason why.

Leather shoes are better than sport shoes because they help protect you. Let’s say you were in a science room, of course a science room has dangerous chemicals and objects contained in them. Leather shoes can protect you from the dangerous objects because if they fall onto your foot it wouldn’t hurt as much.

Leather shoes are also fashionable. It makes you look like you belong in high fashion. As a matter of fact wearing leather shoes smartens up your overall style. To add to this, leather shoes will fit to the shape of your feet, giving you comfort, and support.

These shoes are easy to clean and eco-friendly. Compared to other clothing made from fake resources that can be harmful to the environment, leather shoes use natural materials. Since leather shoes feature natural qualities, you can speed your way through the cleaning process.

Although some people might disagree with me but I strongly agree that leather shoes are better than sport shoes because, they are easier to clean, they’re fashionable, they protect you and of course they’re eco-friendly. Of course we want to be as eco-friendly as possible. Also leather shoes are the typical school shoes, in some schools they let their students wear sport shoes during school hours.

Ethos- Credible, Ethical
We tend to believe people who we believe. Peoples goal in advertising using "ethos" is to convince people using someone. Someone who people respect, or who people like and trust.

Pathos- Emotional
Persuading people by appealing to the audience's emotions. Language choices can affect peoples emotional response.

Logos- Logical
Advertisers persuade people by reasoning with them, they use statistics, they focus on facts, recorded evidence, and historical data, they can also mention studies and surveys.

I think this ad shows ethos because they've used Richie Mccaw to advertise their product. People trust Richie Mccaw and seeing him in this ad will convince people into thinking that Fonterra Milk is healthy for their children.

I think this ad shows pathos because they've used something that people care about. It's like the feeling people get when they find out an animal is endangered. If people found out the backstory of this ad then you'll get emotional, and people will likely try to do anything to save the whales, meaning that the ad worked.

I think this ad shows logos because they've used recorded evidence. But I think this ad shows pathos too, I think the story behind it is we consume too much milk, which is affecting cows. Seeing the dead cow inside the glass makes me sad, other people might get sad too. Calves are getting taken away from their parents. Animals are like humans, they deserve to live a happy life without being separated from their parents, and of course without getting killed. If we stopped consuming too much milk then we could save calves. But of course it might not just be calves getting killed, it could be older cows, so if we stop consuming too much milk then we could save the cow.

What are we learning?

We are learning to produce a product for Sale, to run a profitable business and to explain the roles that business and enterprise has within society. 

What games did you play?

For business and enterprise we were able to play games to expand our understanding of running a business. 

The games we were able to play were, Trading Around the World, Gumption and Small Business Game.

What did you enjoy/not enjoy about them?

For Trading Around the World, I enjoyed how you can ask for a discount and if someone is buying from you, you can ask for a certain amount of money. I think the rules and instructions for this game were easy to obey.

For me I enjoyed Gumption the most because we were able to play with other people (e.g group of friends, classmates). The rules were easy to understand and the instructions were easy to obey. Something I didn't like about it was that other people can take your resources, and they can send you to court. 

The Small Business Game was something I didn't enjoy the most because I couldn't really understand the rules/instructions. So I couldn't really figured out how to play. Something I enjoyed about it was that you felt like you were really running a business. 

What challenges did you face in each game?

The challenge I faced in Trading Around the World, was that if the things you sell ran out you couldn't sell anything anymore and you wouldn't be able to get money. 

For Gumption, the challenge I faced was that I was about to run out of money. Almost running out of money wasn't fun.

For the Small Business Game the challenge I faced was I was not able to play it properly because I couldn't understand the rules/instructions. 

What have you learnt about running businesses and trade?

I learnt that running a business is really difficult, cause you have to take care of a lot of things like taxes, staffs, salary and a lot more. Running a business is not like what we thought when we were children.

How to make a strong bridge

Think about what shape is the strongest:

In a movie I saw, it quoted "The strongest shape is a triangle".
Triangles are the strongest shapes in the world because. No matter how much weight you put on it, the force is equal on all three sides.

We will try to re-create a model from the internet

For our first design our bridge can only take 20 weights. For our last design we used an idea from the internet but we added a modification by us. The last design can hold 50 weights.

Bubblegum writing

Bubble Gum

  Do you ever wonder why people tell you not to swallow gum? Well here’s the reason why.

  Bubble gum is made from Chicle, a form of rubber. First, the gum base is already prepared through a melting and straining process. Next, other ingredients like nutritive or nonnutritive sweeteners or flavours are added to the gum base until the warm mixture is thick like dough. Then the gum is smoothened, formed and shaped into gum. The gum then goes through a shaping process that is by gum type and owner demand.

  Sweeteners or flavours are added to the gum, until it is thick like dough. The gum is then shaped into the owner’s demand by its gum type, the gum is then cut into pieces. Finally, the gum is wrapped and sent to packaging.

After the gum is shaped and cut into pieces, they sprinkle it with powder polyolefin or it is coated onto the gum. The gum is then wrapped with the inner layer of the wrapper looking like regular paper, and the outside layer looking life foil. This is because the paper on the inside would prevent the quality of the gum from breaking down, and the foil on the outside would help seal its freshness.

Now you know why people tell you not to swallow gum, because gum nowadays are made from rubber, and rubber is one of the things that our bodies can’t dissolve.
