Forces

Aim: To understand forces, to create the most stable, straight line paper plane flight.

Hypothesis: Although I'm not going to make a paper plane, I still predict that it would go about half away.

Forces on a paper plane

Forces can make your paper plane balanced, if your plane is balanced then it can fly straight. 

Gravity: Gravity is the force that pulls the plane down

Drag: Drag is the force that pulls back the plane

Thrust: Thrust is the force that pulls the plane forward

Lift: Lift is the force that lifts the plane, making it stay in the air

Method:

1. Fold A4 piece of paper in half (long ways).
2. Then open it back
3. Fold the top corners into the centre.
4. Then fold the corners again to the centre.
5. Then fold it in half (long ways).
6. Then fold the wings outwards.

Results:

Our plane flew up to half of the room and then went another direction. We didn't really get the measurement of how long our plane went. 

In our practice the plane flew all the way across the room but when it was the real thing something changed in our plane.

Discussion:

I learned that, different paper planes can fly different distance. Some are great that they can fly across the room and some good that they can fly up to half of the room.

I wouldn't really change anything because the plane we made was really great. It could fly across the room but there was just a slight change when they threw it.

This dance is a dance from a korean boy group.

It is a hip-hop dance.

The music is 21st Century Girls

The dancers are male, muscular, talented, funny.

The speed is.. Some part of it is really fast, but some part of it are slow.

What did I learn today?

I learned how to set up a chart and how to do shortcuts to make it a lot easier.

•  GROUP 1 had an extra M&M
• I also learned that GROUP 2, had more yellow M&M's than GROUP 2
• Also GROUP 1 had more orange and green M&M's that GROUP 2

We Are Hornby Assessment

What we are learning: We are learning about how the school is a community.

How I think this work shows my learning: This work shows my learning because it shows that I know what a community is, and what our school values are.  

If I did this task again what would I do differently: If I did this task again I would show what the school values mean to me, show what different roles staffs and students have and how important they are to our school. Because the C.A.R.R values are important to our school because without it our school would be complete chaos, along with these values we show different values too, but they have not been mentioned.

Something I am wondering or a question I have from completing this work: 

Why do we have the C.A.R.R values? Why not other values? Is there something important with these values? Is there something with these values that other values do not have?

The Present: You pretend to give a gift to your partner, and you have to describe the special qualities of it.
Dictionary: Make up a word and your partner/partners need to give a clear definition for it.

What I learned:
I learned three different games in drama, the names were "Tahi-Rua-Toru", "The Present", and "Dictionary". These games include a lot of thinking in it, focusing, and eye contact.

Yearly cycles of the fruit trees at Hornby High School

Summer

The apple trees enter the summer in full bloom. As the fertilised flowers produce seeds, the petals of the flower then start to fall and the seeds start begin to develop into apples. The inner most part of the apple develops first, which creates the apple core. The outer part of the apple then develops into the eatable part of the apple. The apple grows larger and the colours starts to change.


On the 27th of April my science teacher took the whole class to the school orchard. The fruits were ready to be picked and eaten. When we got there the fruit looked ripe, as they were in their full colour.

The trees looked healthy, the leaves were green. It grown pretty well too. The fruits were in their full colour, the apples were bright red and could fit in your palms, but some were pretty big. The pears were green and yellowish, and were big too. 

My prediction 
My prediction is that the leaves on the trees will start to fall, and the fruits will become fully ripe with complete colour, and the fruits will become to heavy for the branches and fruit will start to fall.
