We Are Hornby Assessment

What we are learning: We are learning about how the school is a community.

How I think this work shows my learning: This work shows my learning because it shows that I know what a community is, and what our school values are.

If I did this task again what would I do differently: If I did this task again I would show what the school values mean to me, show what different roles staffs and students have and how important they are to our school. Because the C.A.R.R values are important to our school because without it our school would be complete chaos, along with these values we show different values too, but they have not been mentioned.

Something I am wondering or a question I have from completing this work:
Why do we have the C.A.R.R values? Why not other values? Is there something important with these values? Is there something with these values that other values do not have?

Yearly cycles of the fruit trees at Hornby High School

Summer

The apple trees enter the summer in full bloom. As the fertilised flowers produce seeds, the petals of the flower then start to fall and the seeds start begin to develop into apples. The inner most part of the apple develops first, which creates the apple core. The outer part of the apple then develops into the eatable part of the apple. The apple grows larger and the colours starts to change.

On the 27th of April my science teacher took the whole class to the school orchard. The fruits were ready to be picked and eaten. When we got there the fruit looked ripe, as they were in their full colour.

The trees looked healthy, the leaves were green. It grown pretty well too. The fruits were in their full colour, the apples were bright red and could fit in your palms, but some were pretty big. The pears were green and yellowish, and were big too.

My prediction
My prediction is that the leaves on the trees will start to fall, and the fruits will become fully ripe with complete colour, and the fruits will become to heavy for the branches and fruit will start to fall.

Finger Print

This is my finger print.

From what I see I have an "Arch" finger print.

As I examined my finger print more I find that I have a "Delta" on my finger print. A "Delta" is where 3 ridges join, and it is very much like a wide for or spur.

You can't really see it in the picture.

2/20/17 Community of Hornby High

Red- Roles
Blue- Responsibilities
Purple- Name e.g Dean = Mrs Gibson
Pink- Community

What is the purpose of this task?
To show people that I know what people in this school do, and to show people that are in our community.

How does it show in my learning?
It shows because I know which people are in our community and we know what they do.

If I did it again what would I do differently?
I wouldn't do it differently if I ever do it again because I like the way it turned out, it's very organised with different colours for each word or sentence you put in it. And the words/ sentences I put in are things I thought about hard.

Describe how HHS is a community
I don't know how to describe it because I don't fully understand what a community is.

Hands on fire

Aim:
I want to SAFELY set my hands on fire.

Equipment:
Safety goggles
Container full of water mixed with liquid detergent
Water
Hose
Detergent
Lighter

Method:
1. Be safe, wear your safety goggles, roll up your sleeves (if you have a long sleeve top on) and tie your hair back (if you  have long hair).
2. Wet your hands, wrists ans arms up to your below.
3. Scoop a handful of bubbles.
4. Hold the bubbles at eye level, as far away from my body as I can.
5. To put out the fire, SLOWLY open your hands.

Results:

I didn't feel like lighting my hands on fire because I felt a little nervous. But it was fun watching other people light their hands on fire.

Discussion:
What I learnt:
I learnt that if you were holding too much water in your hands and not that much bubbles then the your hands wouldn't light because fire can't go through water.

My Tagul

What I'm learning about:
I am learning about the school values, and learning how to show them.

How does my work show what I am learning:
My work shows what I am learning because, I listened to what the teacher has told me to do. I have wrote 5 different ways to show the values on each value. And I have been responsible because I have not wrote anything inappropriate on my tagul.

Reflection:
I found thinking of ways to show the values difficult, because I had to put in a way that it made sense and that was positive. The thing I liked was how it actually made me think hard, instead of me just putting random things in.
